I am a trained theatre actor, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Simon Fraser University and have worked in Vancouver as a voice and television actor. I was also co-founder of a sketch comedy troupe/short film production company called Genus Theatre, which produced a number of successful independent comedy shows over a three year span.

screenwriting

Most of my creative energy is now being put toward original writing. Over the course of my work with Genus Theatre, twenty different sketches of mine were performed, including The Newsprint Mafia, Blind Man, Fifteen Years, and Heritage Minute.

Recently, I've participated in the Introduction to Screenwriting workshop offered by the Praxis Centre for Screenwriters and Pilar Alessandra's one-day Six Steps To a Screenplay seminar.

For any folks out there who share this interest, I would definitely recommend Pilar's podcast, called On The Page, which involves pointers from Pilar (a former Dreamworks script reader) and interviews with working writers. I also suggest subscribing to the podcast from Creative Screenwriting Magazine, featuring interviews with the writers of the latest hollywood releases, and Sam and Jim Go To Hollywood, which chronicals the career evolution of two former restauranteurs who have succeeded in breaking in to the business of screenwriting in Los Angeles.
